4/19/2022 Cowboy camped by water source

Just walked 5 miles this morning to Pioneer Mail Trailhead.
Talked to Kansas Express, he’s doing the calendar triple crown! Talked for a while about White’s (White Mountains, NH) and AT. He started Feb 3rd, got to Kinsman notch before snow got too deep so he came here (to pct).
-This interaction made a huge impression on me. Kansas Express made time to talk to me. He was in no rush, even though he could have been.

-Other people walked this land before me.

Met Marble, who gave me green nail polish! It’s glow in the dark too??! I’ll find out tonight.

-I’d see these two over and over again!

After lunch I got a message from Dad to call him. I called him. They got the CT scan back on her (Gran EB) stomach. Multiple tumors and she may not make it to her 90th birthday next month.
That was a tough few miles to hike. She’s why I’m out here. I moved the ring from her that I had hanging from my pack to my thumb. I’ll hit Julian tomorrow and figure out a plan.
I have to see her sooner when she is more coherent. Can I afford to get to Idyllwild? I think that’s a week away.
-This was shaking news. I had to leave the trail to go say goodbye to Gran EB.

I got to do her last trip up Foss in 2016? maybe 2015? Hell maybe 2014. w/ Delaney, Riley, Kenzie & Alex. Ding NanEB and I were in puffy’s. We got the cutest pic ever.

I slept by a water source 9 miles from Scissors Crossing (the hitch spot to Julian).
